Americas First Principles….
I’m returning to the blogosphere this week with a basic lesson in Government 101. When our founding fathers started this grand experiment they were rejecting the oppression of the past common bondage to the European form of a Monarchy to establish a compact, or contract, between the people and the ones we choose to represent us. I’m talking about “The First Principles. Each of these concepts are equally important and should be held with equal importance because the each form the foundation of our freedom and liberty.
History has borne out that we are the first nation that held forth that all men and women created equal and are endowed by God with certain unalienable rights; and that governments are instituted to protect those rights and derive their just powers from the consent of the governed.
The first I mention is the rule of law and is a First Principle because it mandates that the law applies equally to everyone. While we recognize that all of us were created equal we have the free will to use the talents that God gave us to the best of our ability to achieve the highest standards we can.
This ties into the second of the “First Principles” which is our God given unalienable rights. This is important because it recognizes that our rights come from, as our founders said, “Nature and natures God.” Unalienable rights” means that it cannot be taken away by anyone for any reason.
Next I bring forth Equality which recognizes that all persons are created equal reguardless of the place or station at birth. We are the only country that actually fought a war to end slavery so our record stands for itself.
One of the “First Principles” and the most often ignored is the one of the ‘social compact’ which recognizes that governments are instituted by the people and derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. They work for us we don’t work for them. The hubris currently on display in Washington will NOT stand in a moral and just people.
The final First Principle I bring up ties into the unalienable rights which is that of a limited government. Our Government’s sole purpose for existence is to protect our rights and our Constitution enumerates those that our Government can do AND NO MORE. We set up our Government to be fulfill its purpose yet limited to ONLY that purpose.
Our final First Principle is the right to replace that Government when the other First Principles are being infringed by the government. Now I’m not talking about an armed revolt because our founders provided a way of doing that. It’s called the Ballot box. Next time I will cover just how Obama has infringed on ALL of our First Principles.
