Im sorry DC but once again our veiws differ enormously.

I dont understand how you can say my country has never been truely free is it any different to your country in all honesty. And before you go on a masive speel about the civil war and your fight for freedom. Have you not a government that governs you and gives you laws and rules to live by. We might be a colony but the Queen no longer governs this colony we make our own laws and rules as we see fit.We also fought in both World wars also for our freedom.

Now as for Medicare it has been implemented in Australia for around 30 years and has been extremly succesfull a small tax of 1.5% for people who earn over $50,000 and couples over $80,000. My country isnt the only one who has implemented succesfull universal healthcare systems either. And we have been in a budget surplus for the last 8 yrs or so and while other economies have suffered hugely from the economic downturn our country has only just suffered its first quarter of negative growth and that was the lowest of the 7 world leaders at only .5%. So i fail to see how our mediacl system has caused all the so called issues for my childern or my grandchildren as my countries economy is in way better shape then "The land of the free"

Maybe it's just me but im confused.... are you saying obama is a communist. I really dont see it. I think maybe you should look at the cyclical nature of economies before you say it is his fault the dow jones dropped by 2000 points and it may also have something to do with the total nutter who was running the country prior. I know you Americans (im sorry to be so broad in my statement here)are resistant to change but maybe just maybe he is just what your country needs maybe just maybe the changes he is implementing will be for the better. At least he (by making the stimulus package) has tried to do something good for your fellow countrymen. He would be coping more crap if he was doing nothing so far as i see it he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.Maybe he will change the worlds overall peception of Americans as gun toteing, racist, elitest snobs(and no not my views just views expressed by the majority of my friends).I remeber a conversation i had with one of your countrymen DC over public heatlh care and heard him say he didnt want a public health care system coz it would mean all the good doctors would work for the NHCS. I was absoulutley amazed and shocked that this person could be so elitest that he would not want healthcare for his fellow countrymen who are not lucky enough to be in a private fund. At least in oz i have the ability to have a baby in a hospital with a doctor and not have to sign my life away when i get the bill(which of course is $0)All i am trying to say in my own way is give the guy a bloody chance he cant really fuck the country much more then it was already

Without all of the fancy numbers to back me up... I've been saying much of what you describe for years. We don't need a bail-out, at least not in the manner in which our government tried to do recently. When I talk to some people, I hear "I need my section 8 or I won't have anywhere to live so I can feed my six kids while I work part-time and try to get my dead-beat baby-daddy to help out."

The mentality of "give me my welfare check" is firmly rooted in American culture now... especially in the larger cities where some folks never seem to learn self-control and adopt responsible behavior. Bad decisions related to First-Timer Credit Cards, QuickCash Payday Loans, drugs, and Pet-Rocks (a 1980's fad gift) to name a few, quickly sap a person's ability to earn a decent living. Once you "buy in" to things you DON'T NEED, your remaining capital never seems to be enough to put a roof over your head AND pay for electricity and food.

Don't get me wrong here. There are a lot of good people who refuse to partake in the welfare game. They get up every morning and do what they can to make their life better without resorting to taking (i.e. stealing) something from someone else.

Oh, I know what you're thinking... "what about the poor guy who just lost his job and can't pay the rent?" Well, perhaps with the exception of a 100% physically disabled person, everything still comes down to your own personal level of responsibility and decision making skills. Everything that happens to you is either directly or indirectly related to your attitude and to the decisions you make in life. If you suck at being responsible, you'll be needing the phone number for the welfare office. If you make good decisions, you will quickly bounce back from your little setback.

Life is give and take. Typically, you have to give a little to get a little. But to bail me out by using my money doesn't make sense to me especially since I don't even eat fish (let alone Alaskan Fish). [I hope my fish reference wasn't lost on you]

Sure is a snakes nest to sort out DC. It makes me wonder how much of the money goes back into the pockets of those handing it out. Time and time again people in high positions are caught meddling in business' where they shouldn't be, due to "conflict of interest". I have no confidence in the legal profession at all, I have to admit. When you start looking at it, it is scary. What I see is a system where the criminals pay enormous amounts of money, to the lawyers to find the tiniest loophole, to get them off the crime they committed.

It is a sad world we live in when "crime actually pays". I have said it before and will again, the moral standard of the human being is down the drain. Not many honest ones left out there. And I hope the few of us, that are left, never give up despite the hard road ahead.

I agree bailing out the people who got them into this mess in the first place isnt the right thing to do. try regulating things a bit better and not allowing these rouge traders to operate is the way to go oh and not allow subprime mortgages also they are just to risky

My dear, dear friend,

Life certainly works in mysterious ways and sometimes fate, brings people together for one reason or another. You are all as wonderful in real life, as in cyberspace, where we all first met, some years ago. I could not have imagined a warmer welcome, it was like long lost friends, finally getting together, for some fun times. I only wish I had the chance to invade America a bit longer. The time went by, far to fast for my liking, but you never know what Lady Fate has in store for us in the future. The memories I have from my visit over there, will be close to my heart for as long as I live.
